Now that Enzo is about 9 1/2 months old he’s been eating 3 meals a day. I’m trying to incorporate as many nutrients as I can throughout the day. Also, Enzo’s iron was low (about a point below what they like to see) so I’m trying to include iron-rich foods along with vitamin C foods at the same meal to increase his iron absorption. I give Enzo his food and let him decide how much to eat. When he starts to slow down I may pick up a few pieces to offer them and be sure he’s done. But once he stops eating I try not to force the issue even if there is a lot of food left. I also try to give him a variety of things I know he loves with things he’s not always fond of in hopes that he’ll eat them eventually. Here’s a day of Enzo eats!
Breakfast: avocado, scrambled eggs cooked in coconut oil, spaghetti squash with homemade tomato basil sauce. This was his first time having squash and tomato sauce and he did pretty good. He inhaled his eggs and avocado and had some squash leftover.
Lunch: smoothie with mango, blueberries, banana, kale, spinach and coconut milk and shredded pork. Drank all his smoothie and ate most of the pork.
Dinner: chickpeas, roasted sweet potatoes and grilled eggplant. Sweet potatoes are always the first to go! Had some chickpeas and eggplant left.
