Another month has flown by! Baby boy is now 9 months old! As Joe said the other day, he’s entering into his fourth trimester…
Enjoys: rolling and manuevering all over the floor in the upstairs game room, the puppies, still saying “da-da” for everything (no “ma-ma” yet!), any and every kind of fruit, other babies and kids.
Milestones: no official crawling yet. He can definitely get around a room and get to what he wants by rolling, stretching, and inching forward, but no true crawling. He seems like he’s been so close for a while now but only time will tell.
Teeth: I looked back at my 8 month post and thought he was teething then and I still think he’s teething now. Can it last for a whole month with no teeth to show for it? Probably not… But it really does seem like those top teeth are trying their hardest to poke through.
Sleep: much, much better! About 3 weeks ago after we got back from our Omaha trip he started sleeping through until 4-5 a.m. and now it’s until about 5:30-6 a.m. Any time he is up before 6 a.m. I always put him back to bed in hopes that he’ll go back to sleep after feeding. He’s been doing pretty good with that however it’s almost impossible for me to go back to sleep. I’m hoping over time he’ll keep pushing that feeding later and later until he’s at a normal wake time passed 6 a.m. And it doesn’t matter what time he goes to bed for the night. The other night he slept from 5:30 p.m.-5:30 a.m. and then last night from 7:30 p.m.-5:30 a.m. Hopefully we’re not creating an early wake-up habit but we’ll see how things go. I’ll take this over multiple middle of the night wake ups for sure!
Food: Breastfeeding and solids going strong. He’s at about 4-5 milk feeds a day and 3 solid meals. He eats a mix of veggies, fruits, meats and some fats (mostly avocado). Some days he eats a ton and others all he wants are pears! I’m letting him take the lead but I still offer vegetables at every meal. And it’s getting a bit easier to make things that we all can eat as opposed to making him his own foods which is nice. I’m also trying to stock up a large milk stash for when we go on our Italy trip without little Enzo this fall. He’ll have just turned 1 and I want to keep breastfeeding. I have a minimum goal of about 260 oz of milk and I have 100 left to go! With 3 months until our trip I’m hoping I can do it. The fun part will be trying to pump while in Italy. 🙂
Exercise: I did one prenatal baby/mom yoga class a few weeks ago that was fun. Other than that I’m still doing cardio/weights with online videos whenever I can squeeze them in. Also doing walks when it’s not too hot.
Travel: Enzo, Joe and I will be heading to Branson in about a week and then Enzo and I will be flying solo to Omaha again the end of July. The road trip to Branson should be interesting because the last long road trip we had, Enzo was only 5 months old and slept more during the day. Not sure how it will go this time! And for Omaha I’m flying straight from Austin with layovers instead of flying straight from Houston. Hopefully the flights will go as smooth as last time!
