Biweekly Update: 26 Weeks…2/3 of the Way!

Whoa…according to most sources I am technically in my third trimester starting next week which means Thing 3 is 2/3 of the way cooked! I will probably say this every update, but I can’t believe how fast time is flying by. I feel like Joe and I have been keeping pretty busy with friends, spending time with each other and just preparing for baby. Right now we are researching some pretty important topics: birth plan, vaccines, day cares and pediatricians. I feel pretty overwhelmed with all of the information out there.

25 weeksMy biggest concern/struggle right now is vaccines. I feel truly torn on the best option and am hoping my continued research and resources that I have ready will help Joe and I make the best decision for our family, whether it’s to follow a different vaccine schedule than the one recommended by the CDC, not receive certain vaccines or get any at all. We have a lot of work to do but I’m hopeful we can do the best thing for our little baby. Any advice or experience is much appreciated!

How far along: 26 weeks

Total weight gain: 12 lbs.

Maternity clothes: Absolutely! My regular shirts seem to be shrinking, or is that my imagination?

Sleep: I’m still sleeping pretty hard. I had my first dream about holding my baby this week which was pretty surreal. He was huge though!

Miss anything: Nothing is sticking out to me this week. I guess not being so hot all the time would be nice.

Best moment this week: I don’t have anything specific. We’ve just been truly enjoying our time as much as possible, spending time with friends, trying to get out of the house more, etc. We also went to a cloth diaper class which was a great way for both of us to see some of the different options in person. We’re 100% going for cloth and I can’t wait to start working on my stash!

26 WeeksMovement: All over the place! I can now feel him do what I think are somersaults in there. Less punching/kicking and more like he’s turning all over the place. He’s only slightly less than 2 lbs. right now so I can imagine how that’s going to feel over the next few months…

Food cravings: I still can’t really think of anything. Right now I’m eating homemade gluten-free granola with yogurt and fruit almost every morning, devouring salted cashews by the bagful and snacking on apples with almond butter along with our regular meals of meat and veggies. On the meal plan this week is grilled chicken, veggie/pesto pizza with homemade Paleo pizza crust,  tacos and spaghetti squash with sausage. I also made a batch of chocolate coconut milk ice cream and dairy free caramel sauce which was awesome!

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nada. I am slowly getting over my second cold of this pregnancy but it hasn’t been too bad.

Have you started to show yet: No doubt now!

Gender: Boy. 🙂

Happy or moody most of the time: I’m still feeling pretty happy. Sometimes when I get overwhelmed with everything I tend to feel bogged down emotionally. I know this will probably continue even after baby comes.

Looking forward to: Trip next week to Omaha for our first baby shower! So excited to see family and friends as this will probably be the last time we are able to go back until baby is a little older.
