I had this thought recently that involved the common phrase, money is the root of all evil. I wondered if money is the root of all evil, then why are churches so insistent on asking for it?
So I began a little research and quickly learned that phrase is commonly misquoted. The quote actually comes from 1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. (NIV)
A couple of translations actually say that the love of money is the root of all evil but to me, that means an entirely different thing. Hope this helped some of you that may have had a little misunderstanding.
