This weeks challenge is all about honesty. Can you share your deepest secrets? That’s a tough one. One that needs to be taken very seriously.
Awhile ago our pastor spoke on honesty. He challenged us to be completely honest in the day-to-day routines. For example, if you go out to eat and the food isn’t that great and the waiter/waitress asks how your food is, tell them that the food isn’t good. Or if your wife asks if she looks fat in her new dress, tell her she looks fat in her new dress (that one got a few laughs). So back to the title of this post, can you be completely honest?
Lets just say that I failed this challenge miserably. I don’t like to make people feel bad, even if it involves lying to them.
When trying to fix or correct something, some people like to start with the small things, like telling a waiter that the food isn’t good or telling your wife/husband that you don’t like their haircut. But as for me, I like to tackle the major things first. Those moments in life that help define who you are today. So throughout the next couple of weeks, I will begin sharing those moments with you.
But my challenge for you this week, is to try and take one aspect of your life, big or small, and be 100% honest about it. It could be to answer every question your spouse asks you with honesty, or it could be to share your habits with someone else.
I want to thank a few of you for sharing last week. I know it’s not easy to talk about personal things so here are a few verses to provide some encouragement:
1 John 1:9 ESV
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Proverbs 28:13 ESV
Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.
James 5:16 ESV
Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
